Images of Indonesia (Final Draft)

This report aims to tell Indonesian teenagers' point of view based on their real lives. I interviewed ten of my classmates by phone. The question concerned Music, Food, and Movie

Music
Many people believe that music can change your mood. As a matter of fact almost everyone i interviewed feel relaxed, happy, and peaceful whenever the music is on. They listen to the music when they study, about to sleep, or simply bored. It's a shame that none of them can play indonesian traditional instrument. A quarter of them like to play piano, another quarter can play guitar, and the rest like to sing

Movie
75% of the teenagers prefer to watch movies in cinemas rather than in DVDs. No wonder, because cinemas have better sound systems and huge screens. Half of them watch movies in every genre, and another half can only watch comedy, thriller, and drama. Mostly, the people i had interviewed chose western films over indonesian. They think western films have greater imagination and out of the box but they have faith that indonesian films will be better without pornographic.

Food
In average, people i asked eat 3 times a day. Those who eat twice a day, either skip breakfast, or dinner. They admit that breakfast is an important meal of the day. The reason they skip breakfast because usually they don't have time to eat. 75% of them chose the taste over the healthiness. As i interviewed they all have different answer in Indonesian traditional food, some said Siomay, Beef rendang, Mie Aceh, etc. One thing they have in common is that they think indonesian foods have unique taste.

This report concludes that every person have their own opinions and it's okay to be different. Some prefer to listen classical music rather than rock. Some like western foods than indonesian traditional foods. However, differences bring us closer, right?

Will it be possible to live forever?

My mind answer so quickly “of course no” you see cause is already at the law of nature that no one can live forever,  except for god. All things is gone a be dead even this earth, it’s gonna death too and that’s for sure.

There are many movies or a myth that says we can live forever. For example alchemist, a few people says that alchemist can create a potion that makes people didn’t get older and can live forever and I think it’s a great topics to put an argument in it, but if that thing it’s exist for surely it’s very-very against the law of nature that anything will be dead. Or event a witch that make a potion made from many-many things like a crow feather, black cursed hair, or else that can make you live forever. And maybe a black magic that can makes you invincible and immortality

But it just a movie or an myth, now we are on real life we have to realized that someday we will be dead, and we have to realized all of things like your lovely pet that you never think that it will be dead, your mother or father will be dead. Now the thing that what we have to asked is when not what, we will be dead that for sure, but when we will die? That’s the one that we have to think.

The point is we have to pray a lot and do your life as good as you can because you never now when the dead arrived at you and bring you back to our home.

English Assignment 1(Final Draft)

Images of Indonesia

The aim of this report is to present what is popular amongst teenagers in Indonesia. I interviewed 8 of my friends by chat and in person. The questions are about education system, food and gadget.

Education System
All of the people I had interviewed agreed that Indonesia has a bad education system. The system is unclear and very complicated. School in Indonesia is very expensive, it’s not suitable with the quality that they have. Many people don’t go to school because they don’t have money to pay for school. Three-fourth of the people I had interviewed prefer private school to public school because in private school, teacher give more attention to their students. They also think that private school has more facility than public school. All of them agreed that education abroad is much better than in Indonesia.

Food
The majority of people I had interviewed said that Indonesian food taste good. Indonesia has many kind of food with different taste. Some taste sweet and some taste spicy. Every district has their own specialities. Over half chose sate padang as their favorite Indonesian food while other few chose mie aceh, mie jawa and soto betawi as their favorite Indonesian food. The majority of people I had interviewed said that Indonesian food taste better than western food.

Gadget
Three-fourth of them chose handphone as their favorite gadget. They agreed that gadget has both positive and negative side effects. The positive are their gadget can make their life easier than before, they can communicate with people faster and easier, they can find many information from their gadget easily and jnformation comes earlier than before. The negative are their gadget makes them forget to study or do their assignment and gadget can make them sick. For example, headache and several eye problems that make them need to use glasses.

The most surprising aspect of the report is that all of the people I had interviewed said education abroad is much better than Indonesia. It means that government need to fix the education system so people would love to study here.

Images of Indonesia-REWRITE

Images of Indonesia

The aim of this report is to present what is popular in Indonesia and people (my friends and family) opinion about them. I interviewed 5 of my friends and all the people in my family by person and phone. The question concerned movie, music, gadget, and public transportation.

Movie:
All the people I had interviewed answered differently. But mostly chose comedy, drama, and action as their favourite movie genre. Others answered romance, horror, and biography. Most of people I had asked, usually watch movie only few times a week for their entertainment. They all agreed that foreign movies are better than Indonesian because Indonesia had produced many movies with porn and horror genre which is rather pointless and doesn’t contain any useful morale. That’s why many of them are against the new tax policy which restrained the distribution of foreign movies in Indonesia.

Music:
All of my friends chose foreign music as their favourite music over Indonesian music. More than three-fourth like jazz and most of them like pop as their favourite music genre. Three-fourth always listens to the music when they have nothing to do in their free time. They agreed that listening to music could make people feel relaxed, which is why a quarter of people I had asked love to listen to music when they are studying.

Gadget:
The majority of people I had interviewed chose BlackBerry (cell phone) as their favourite gadget and the other few chose palmtop and iPad as theirs. The most useful facility of gadget for most of them is BlackBerry Messenger and music. They all agreed that they can’t ‘live’ without their gadget and technology. They also agreed that Indonesia has the potential to produce their own local gadget in the future.

Public Transportation:
All the people I had interviewed agreed that Indonesian Public Transportation facility is relatively bad. Most of them rarely used the public transportation and only a quarter used it (regularly or not). The majority chose Trans-Jakarta as their best choice of public transportation while the other chose bus. The positive of using public transportation is having a role to the decrement of global emission since there are less private cars around. On the other hand, the negative aspect of public transportation is the lack of comfort and privacy for the passenger.

This report shows that each people have different opinion of things. I also agree that Indonesia have to focus more on plot and morale to guarantee the success of movies in Indonesia and for the future of Indonesian morale; like Laskar Pelangi teach us that we need to do our best to make our dream come true, Merah Putih teach us to respect heroes for they have worked hard for our country sake, etc.  The most surprising aspect of this report for me is that all people I had interviewed can’t ‘live’ without gadget or technology. It shows how much people depend on technology nowadays.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

Computers can be used for lots of tasks and I think that they could be used as teachers for younger generation. Don't talk about future, today our younger generation are already familiarized with computers at an early age and they are fascinated by it. They can do anything what they want using computers, for example they can learn mathematics from computer, they can develop their creativity using computer too.
Computers can teach them everything they need to learn in school. I think in the future computers can be replace books for the learning tools. Now many teachers give the assignment by e-mail, then we have to get the answer from the internet, it means books will be replace slowly by computer.
The conclusion of the report is i think there will be no teachers in the future if computer can do anything. And maybe there's remain a teachers but, they give all of the assignment and test by e-mail so there's no formal school.

English Assignment 2

Will There Still Be Schools and Teachers in the Future?

Ray Kurzweil says that in 2019, most learning is accomplished through intelligent, adaptive courseware presented by computer-simulated teachers. It means that we will still have teachers and schools but in different forms.
Today, there are many ways to study. We don’t only use textbook but we can use internet to study and find out about everything we want to know. We can study everywhere not only in the classroom. It means that it is possible for us to study at home and use internet as our teacher in the future.
But, school is not only  a place for studying and teacher is not only a person who teach us school’s subjects. School is a place for us to express our opinions and show our talents. School is also a place for us to socialize with other people, not only with our friends in the same age but also with older people like teachers or seniors. And  teachers, they don’t only teach us school’s subject like math or science but they teach us about manners. They give us lessons about life and give solutions to our problems.
To sum up, I would like to say that schools and teacher can’t be separated with education. That’s why I believe that there will be schools and teachers in the future. But, we have both formal school and electronic school in the future. Formal school will be taught by teachers and electronic school will be taught by internet

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

We have had schools and teachers from thousand years ago. So, yes there will be schools and teachers in the future. School is the place where people get educated and it's important for the deeds of future generations.
The technology has advanced a lot in these past years, and so will the upcoming years. It's possible that in the future, students might stay at home all day and get educated by robots. Unfortunately, not all of the people can afford to pay robots. In my opinion, human intelligence cannot be replaced by robot. Human knows how to explain, interact, socialize with other human. Besides, by using robot as teacher will increase the amount of jobless people in the world.
Schools are more than  sitting and studying.  Schools are the place where you go everyday, meet new friends, and socialize. We can ask any specific questions, learn how to work in group, and bond with others. Those are examples of things that we can't do at home.
However the future is hard to predict. It would be nice to stay at home and have robots as the teachers, but i prefer to go to school and be taught by a real person that i can talk to.
